It is very important that the clay be pure, clean and natural direct from the source mine—preferably a subsurface mine that has been protected from the natural elements. Some companies are so far removed from the original clay source they have little knowledge about what they are promoting and how it works.

All clays are not created equal. Within the Smectite family there are thousands of different types of clays, each consisting of between 60 and 90 minerals in different amounts Some clays are good for topical only and some better for internal use. Then there are those high quality clays that are excellent for both uses. It is important to know your clays.

Even though Sodium Bentonite, and Calcium Bentonite Clay are cousins from the same family genesis, they are as different as night and day in efficacy and intended uses. Sodium Bentonites primarily throw off sodium from the Cation Exchange layer while Calcium Bentonite will exchange the dominate minerals calcium and magnesium. High Sodiums tend to have a thick gooey plastic like consistency.
