New Article: CBC A Natural Way to Protect Yourself from Mercury

by Cheryl McCoy

Mercury is a naturally occurring metal that is toxic to vertebrates, including humans.  Even in very small amounts, it can cause severe damage to your neurological functions and multiple organ systems.  Mercury is hiding in many things we come in contact with daily; everything from our food to the fillings in our teeth, and even our light bulbs.  It seems to be everywhere.  It was recently reported that HFCS (high fructose corn syrup) has been contaminated with mercury.  Since such a vast number of processed foods contain HFCS, any time you eat any pre-packaged food, you’re most likely eating mercury right along with it.  But mercury isn’t just in junk food.  Even healthy foods can be hiding mercury.  Unfortunately, it is reported to be abundant in fish, one of the foods considered to be most healthy for us to consume.  Calcium Bentonite Clay, thankfully, is a safe, natural way to help remove mercury from our bodies and protect ourselves from the ravages of this contaminant.     (…read full article)

Legislative Update

From Kyle Johnson, President of the Living Clay Co. (

Dear Friend of Living Clay,

We appreciate each of you who answered our recent call to action to oppose S. 3002.  Hundreds of thousands of messages from natural product consumers  poured into the Senate and Congress opposing S. 3002, the Dietary Supplement Safety Act, proposed by Senators John McCain and Byron Dorgan. More and more messages were arriving by the day and it appears our voices have been heard.

Senator McCain has said that he intends to back away from S. 3002, and instead work with Senator Orin Hatch, a champion of natural medicine, on amendments to the Food Safety Bill (S. 510) and the DSHEA full implementation legislation. McCain claims that he will not push any of the provisions of S. 3002 that were objected to.

While McCain’s shift is good news (and evidence of the effectiveness of grassroots political action), we should not let up our campaign, because the bill could easily be picked up by another member of Congress.  The Natural Products Association will continue to keep an eye on these talks as they progress.

We will continue to provide you with updates about any changes to the bill’s status.

Live Well,

Kyle Johnson
The Living Clay Co.
